SUSAN SOTTILE ON THE HISTORY OF TOLYN DESIGNS...

I have never thought of myself as a mentor as such but I have always enjoyed teaching what I know to others and watching them blossom.

About 14 years ago I met a young woman who wanted to learn as much as she could about the floral industry. Sandra wanted to learn both the hum drum tasks and the more complex things such as creating arrangements, corsages and just about every aspect of floral design. The young woman was already talented and energetic. I had a strong desire to be the best I could be and see beautiful finished products and I was willing to teach her what I knew.

Fourteen years has flown by very fast and my student is now my peer, often teaching me a thing or two. We share the same goals of quality and service. Our tastes are somewhat similar but different enough to make things interesting. We complement each other and always make bouquets and arrangements that we are proud of.

I couldn't have known all those years ago that our shared love of flowers, mutual respect and a similar sense of humor would lead us to create a business that has brought joy not only to our clients but also to us. We know that families and guests of our brides are enjoying our floral creations and we take tremendous joy in having been part of one of the most important days of their lives.
